Glasgow Airport Parking: Scotland’s Best-Kept Secret for Cheap Parking

Glasgow Airport (GLA) is Scotland’s principal long-haul gateway, handling around 9 million passengers annually. Located just 8 miles west of the city centre in Paisley, it’s well-connected via the M8 motorway. And the parking? Some of the cheapest in the UK.

Why Glasgow Parking Is So Affordable

Several factors keep Glasgow parking prices low. The airport sits in an area with relatively cheap land, which means off-airport operators can offer large, secure facilities at lower cost. There’s healthy competition between multiple providers. And being outside the London pricing bubble makes a dramatic difference — you’ll typically pay 40-50% less than equivalent parking at Heathrow.

Parking Options

Official Long Stay

Located a short shuttle ride from the terminal. Pre-booked prices start from around £4.50 per day. The shuttle runs every 12-15 minutes and the facility is well-maintained with CCTV and lighting throughout.

Off-Airport Park & Ride

Several operators near the airport offer Park & Ride from as low as £3 per day. At these prices, a two-week holiday costs under £45 for parking — less than a single day at Heathrow’s short stay.

Meet & Greet

Glasgow’s single terminal makes Meet & Greet particularly efficient. You drive to the terminal, hand your keys to a chauffeur at the drop-off, and walk in. From around £5 per day — exceptional value.

Official Short Stay

Connected to the terminal by a covered walkway. Best for pick-ups, drop-offs, and very short trips. Expensive for longer stays but convenient if you need to be at the terminal quickly.

Getting to Glasgow Airport

From Glasgow city centre, the airport is approximately 15 minutes via the M8 (junction 28/28A). From Edinburgh, allow 50-60 minutes via the M8 west. From the north (Stirling, Perth), take the M80 south to the M8.

Sat nav: PA3 2ST for the terminal. The airport is clearly signposted from the M8 in both directions.

Glasgow vs Edinburgh: Which to Fly From?

If you live in central Scotland, you have a choice between Glasgow and Edinburgh airports. Both offer competitive parking, but Glasgow typically edges it on price for both parking and flights. Edinburgh has more domestic routes while Glasgow has stronger long-haul connections. Compare both airports when searching for parking — the price difference might tip your decision.

Tips

Glasgow parking is affordable year-round, but prices still rise during Scottish school holidays (which differ from English dates) and the summer peak. Book 2 weeks ahead for the best deal. During the Glasgow Fair fortnight (traditionally the last two weeks of July), demand spikes as the city’s traditional holiday period kicks in.
