M56 junction 5 leads straight to the airport. From Manchester city centre, allow 25 minutes off-peak; from Liverpool, 45 minutes; from Leeds, around 90 minutes via the M62/M60.
Manchester Airport station is connected to all three terminals by a covered moving walkway. Direct services run to Manchester Piccadilly (15-20 minutes), and longer-distance routes connect Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Penzance.
National Express runs from across the UK direct to the Ground Transport Interchange. Local Stagecoach services connect with Wythenshawe, Stockport and Manchester.
The Metrolink tram serves the airport from Manchester city centre via Wythenshawe, slower than the train but cheaper.
