How much does it cost to park at Edinburgh Airport?

From about £11.12 a night, or £88.97 for a typical eight night trip, in the cheapest car park we found (park and ride). The airport's own on-airport parking was £103.97, about £13.00 a night. The most expensive option was £265.96. Short trips cost much more per night and long trips much less: three nights worked out at £14.32 a night, while fifteen nights dropped to £8.29.

Park and ride means an off-airport compound with a shuttle to the terminal. At Edinburgh it saved £15.00 against the airport's own car park on an eight night stay.

Should you book Edinburgh Airport parking early?

On these numbers, no. We priced the same eight night stay at both lead times and Flying Scot at Low Cost was £78.97 booked a week out and £88.97 booked a month out. Booking later was £10 cheaper, which is the opposite of what the industry tells you. Booking ahead still guarantees you a space in July, but at Edinburgh do not assume it guarantees a better price.

How much is Edinburgh Airport's official car park?

Plane Parking Refundable came out at £103.97 for eight nights, which is £13.00 a night. You are parking on airport land with a short transfer, and at Edinburgh that costs about £15.00 more than the cheapest option.

Why does Edinburgh parking cost more per night for a short trip?

Because car parks price the space rather than the night. There is a fixed cost to taking a bay out of circulation at all, so the first few days carry most of it and every extra day is cheaper.

Meet and greet means a driver takes the car from you at the terminal and it is waiting when you land. At Edinburgh the cheapest was £191.96 for eight nights against £88.97 for the cheapest option overall, so you are paying about £102.99 to skip the shuttle in both directions.

With a car seat, two suitcases and a 6am flight, that is money most parents would spend twice. Travelling alone with hand luggage, the shuttle takes a few minutes and the money is better spent at the other end.
